The premier medium mobile suit of the Dai Nippon armed forces. A solidly constructed MS, the Type 44 was designed and manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Its clean, compact design made it a suitable choice for urban and built-up terrain. After an extensive and rigorous trial period, the third model, with upgraded systems and a modular chest turret, was chosen for mass-production.
As with other MS of its generation, the Type 44 was well protected and had a very good power-to-mass ratio. Its large feet contributed to its low ground pressure, allowing it to operate on soft ground with relative ease. The underslung chest turret could be fitted with a variety of weapons and sensors and proved invaluable in urban terrain, where it could cover certain blind spots and counter close-in threats, such as infantry hiding in rubble. The internal architecture was the embodiment of efficiency, each system closely integrated and managed by a state-of-the-art operating system. This expressed itself in a better man-machine interface. There was a shorter response time between the pilot's intent and the mobile suit's actions.
Of course, these had their drawbacks. The closer systems integration called for a less-redundant system; the Type 44 was more prone to assorted system failures from battle damage. It also required a larger support & maintenance organization compared to other mobile suits. Also criticized was the waist juncture. A difficult area to protect adequately due to its function, the Type 44's appeared to be more vulnerable than its contemporaries.
Design notes: Mainly inspired by the Brocken from Patlabor. Incidentally, I created the original design at the same time as the Guderian and the Montgomery , back in October '01.
Ooooh, AWESOME design. The only crits I can make is that the left arm looks rounder than the right, and the lower legs seem small. But otherwise, really cool. Beautiful colors.
Kudos, m8.
i like all the notes describing the weapons and various tools
