Kshatriya Body Armour

Description

From Anno Astra...

The armour worn by New Hindustan's Kshatriya-caste infantry is a full bodysuit made of ballistic polyamides for light weight, flexibility and low cost. Rigid cermet plates provide additional protection for the legs and upper torso. The entire ensemble is patterned on the traditional 18th century AD chihal'ta hazar masha, the 'coat of a thousand nails,' although the rigid cuirass protecting the upper torso is based more on Turkish cavalry armour from the 16th century AD.

The bodysuit is vacuum-rated and multilayered for insulation and NBC protection, although it lacks any form of active climate-control system other than the air-filtration system built into the helmet. Bulkier and less efficient than the soft-armour bodysuits in use by the more powerful factions, Hindustani bodysuits make use of simpler fabrication methods and cheaper materials to keep costs low.

This particular example has had its rigid plates coated with a polished copper-bronze alloy for ceremonial and parade purposes. The alloy, an electrodeposited layer half a millimeter thick, does not provide any additional protection other than, possibly, slightly diffusing incoming laser fire.

Haven't done any colour work lately, due to heavy workloads for the past three months. Some new lineart in the scrap gallery, though.

What I love even more than the conceptual design, is the thoroughness in which you describe it. A conceptual design of this nature only has life when is it has practical usage and meaning, and you give it both these qualities. I'm going to assume this is for an ongoing story you have created, and from what I've seen so far it appears very detailed. I'll be sure to check out the rest of your gallery.
